Shoichi Yanai

[Profile]
A maker living in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. He studied guitar making under Seiichi Nobe, the son of Shoji Nobe. Currently, he continues to make guitars by hand in all processes, with advice from Kaoru Ono. He devoted himself to traditional guitars from the first half of the 20th century, such as Hauser I, Enrique Garcia, and Francisco Simplício, and produced mainly replica models of them. The simple appearance and tone of the entire shellac paint is popular with beginners to intermediates. He is one of the makers that Aura continues to provide, even though he makes about one piece a year.

[Description]
Torres model produced by Shoichi Yanai. It is based on the 1864 Torres. Resonance is set just below G. The woody sound unique to the shellac finish is comfortable, and the slightly dry core sound gives the impression of a vintage guitar, even giving it a good old taste. This is different from the gorgeous and lustrous tone of modern guitars, and the intention of this maker who is particular about the guitar of this era is clearly set out. The quick response of the string repellent and the slightly thicker C-shaped neck that is easy to grip make it easy to play with both hands.
