[Luthier Information]
Originally a performer and collector of fine instruments, the maker began building guitars as a personal pursuit. He later studied under Kaoru Ono, learning traditional guitar-making techniques from the ground up. Although producing only a limited number of instruments, he builds in the Spanish traditional style.
[Instrument Information]
A newly made 2026 Barbero I model, with a 650 mm scale length.
It is characterized by a bright, natural tone with excellent sustain and resonance. The sound remains consistent across all positions on the fingerboard, offering good balance throughout. While the volume is moderate, the response is quick and the notes project clearly with a pleasing sustain. Faithfully capturing the essence of the Barbero I style, this instrument also offers a wide tolerance to touch, making it highly playable.
Finished in shellac varnish, and fitted with Gotoh tuning machines. The neck has a standard profile and is straight, with no fret wear. String height is set at 3.0 mm (1st string) and 4.0 mm (6th string), providing a soft tension that enhances ease of play.
