[Luthier Information]
Daisuke Kuriyama, born in 1981, is one of the leading figures among Japan's new generation of classical guitar makers. He began building guitars as a self-taught student while studying at Tokyo Zokei University. After graduating, he joined a major music store in 2003 and worked in the instrument repair department for over a decade, where he was exposed to and studied numerous legendary guitars from both Japan and abroad. This hands-on experience played a critical role in shaping his refined aesthetic and his exceptional ear for tonal balance.
In 2010, Kuriyama was introduced to master luthier Kaoru Ono, under whom he trained directly for several years before establishing his own independent workshop. Since then, he has maintained an exclusive production output of just 6–8 instruments per year, each crafted with meticulous precision and deep respect for Spanish traditional construction.
Kuriyama builds instruments inspired by great historical models—Torres, Domingo Esteso, Marcelo Barbero I, and others. His guitars are known for their authentic Spanish tone, balanced projection, and beautiful handcrafted detailing, making them highly sought after by both classical and flamenco players across a wide range of genres.
In 2020, Kuriyama’s work and philosophy were featured in Orfeo Magazine No.15 (published by Camino Verde, France) in a special issue on Japanese luthiers, solidifying his international reputation.

Daisuke Kuriyama – Robert Bouchet Model No.124 – 2025
This is a brand-new 2025 concert model by Daisuke Kuriyama: his 100-series Robert Bouchet tribute, serial number No.124.
As with all of Kuriyama's work, this guitar is built entirely by hand using traditional Spanish techniques. For this model, he pays deep homage to the legendary Robert Bouchet, the French master luthier whose instruments are celebrated for their poetic tone, structural elegance, and artistic bracing design. While inspired by Bouchet, Kuriyama integrates his own sense of refinement and balance into the instrument—offering a guitar that blends historical authenticity with modern sensitivity.
