[Profile]
Born in 1941. After working for several guitar makers and craftsmen during his youth, he became independent at the age of 27 and started making guitars under his own label. He has been making guitars for over 50 years at his workshop in the suburbs of Nagoya, Japan, based on his study of the masterpieces of Manuel Ramirez, Hermann Hauser, Jose Luis Romanillos, and others.

[Description]
Kazuo Ichiyanagi produced No.50 in 2001 is now in stock. This high-spec model follows the top-of-the-line No.80 model made of Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda), and is very substantial for this price range.
It has a responsiveness that makes the sound appear directly from the fingertips of the right hand. And although there is plenty of echo, it is natural and pleasant sounding without excessive acoustic components. There is sufficient dynamic range and high linearity with the strength of touch, so there is no stress on the right hand. The sound is more like Hauser's than Torres' or Romanillos', but the characteristic of softness rather than harshness is probably due to Ichiyanagi's taste. As his post-2000 work, this is a very attractive piece.
There is no major repair history. The sound board is finished with shellac, and the back and sides are coated with cashew. There are some minor discoloration on the sides, but this does not detract from the appearance.
