Kaoru Ono(1953～) is one of the finest luthiers in Japan who for over 30 years now is consistently producing guitars. At first he studied wood technology at the university,　and became interested in making guitars. Around 1980, he was apprenticed to Alberto Nejime Ohno. In 2001 he participated in a course of guitar making lecture by Jose Luis Romanillos at Siguenza, Spain. And also he met Arcangel Fernandez in Japan and was advised a great deal. So deeply impressed by traditional Spanish guitar style, he explored his own image of sound.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of the Bouchet model 2020 No.321 built by Kaoru Ono. This is a model that Ono studied the 1967 Robert Bouchet guitar owned by Minoru Inagaki, one of Japan's most beautiful sounding guitarists, and made it one of his standard lineup.
Without sticking to the image of the 'organ-like' sound of the original Bouchet, this guitar is Ono's typical guitar with a lean acoustic that seems to present a blueprint drawn from structural principles. The refinement of each note, the clarity of sound in chords, and the classical and elegant expressiveness of the sound are all wonderful, and can be said to be the sole domain of Mr. Ono. The hard sound that seems to come from deep within the body is very Bouchet-like, and unlike Spanish guitars where the entire body resonates, each note has its own unique depth.
The delicate shellac finish has been maintained in its original condition, and there is no history of repainting or other such modifications. It is in very good condition with no major repairs such as cracks. The string tension is low to medium and the left hand feels comfortable. The tuning machine has been replaced with a high-end Italian brand Alessi tuning machine.
