kaoru Ono(1954～)is one of the finest luthiers in Japan who for over 30 years now is consistently producing guitars. At first he studied wood technology at the university,　and became interested in making guitars. Around 1980, he was apprenticed to Alberto Nejime Ohno. In 2001 he participated in a course of guitar making lecture by Jose Luis Romanillos at Siguenza, Spain. And also he met Arcangel Fernandez in Japan and was advised a great deal. So deeply impressed by traditional Spanish guitar style, he explored his own image of sound.

[Description]
This is a Jose Luis Romanillos Special Custom Model 2022 made by Kaoru Ono. The sound board is made of top quality spruce from the Arcángel Fernández workshop stock, and the back and sides are made of beautiful maple. The distinctive head shape and rosette design of the original have been beautifully reproduced with Ono's distinctive precision.
The overall acoustics have achieved a very high degree of balance, and Ono's individuality has been beautifully matched with the Romanillos-like characteristics, making this one more than a mere replica. The tone is penetrating yet warm, and the richness of musical expression that responds delicately to changes in touch is unparalleled.
In addition, the maple's distinctive cotton-like feel and slightly hard resonance create an elegant atmosphere, making this a model overflowing with classical elegance. The nut and saddle are made of ivory, which has become rare nowadays.
Made as a special custom, this piece is labeled 'Homenaje a J.L.Romanillos' as a tribute to this rare master who sadly passed away this year, 2022.
