[Profile]
Yoshimitsu Hoshino was born in Sapporo in 1942 and started his career as a guitar maker at the age of 20 under Sakazo Nakade. After 6 years of training, he spent 2 years in Europe visiting famous guitar workshops such as Freta, Aguado, Hauser, etc. to further his learning. Later, at the age of 28, he opened a workshop in Tokyo. Since then, he has continued his steady production activities for more than 40 years, but now he has retired, and this is a valuable brand available only on the used market. The selection of high-quality materials, the elegant appearance, high workmanship, and well-designed acoustics make it one of the best in Japan. The tone is rich and expressive, yet stoic and restrained, giving rise to the brand's unique taste. The brand is highly acclaimed by guitarists outside of Japan, including Göran Söllscher and Ariel Asselborn,

[Description]
Yoshimitsu Hoshino's 1983 spruce and South/Central American rosewood version is now in stock. Although this is one of the first to mid-period pieces made by this maker, it already shows the extremely high level of perfection that would lead to the later works of this brand. The elegant, stoic, and stately appearance of this piece is the result of a meticulous attention to detail, and the materials used are all of excellent quality, indicating that they were chosen with great care. The design that dares to suppress gorgeousness and the shellac finish are also excellent.
The acoustic design, which is his characteristic and one of the best in Japan, is also well constructed in this work. The classical balance of the sound is achieved from the massive bass with comfortable rigidity to the delicate treble with a sense of transparency, probably based on Hermann Hauser, a master craftsman in Germany. The tone is also subdued, typical of the brand, but it is brighter than the pale monotone tones of his later guitars, and sometimes has a Spanish feel to it.
The sound board is finished in shellac, and there are a few scratches on the treble side of the sound hole, but other than that, there is nothing that detracts from the appearance of the guitar. There are no cracks or other major repairs.
