Profile
Born in England in 1941, Paul Fischer is a distinguished luthier known for his deep knowledge of musical instruments and his broad understanding of European traditions. He initially trained in harpsichord making under Robert Goble, and his meticulous craftsmanship reflects this background.

In 1969, Fischer joined the workshop of renowned luthier David José Rubio, where he served as head craftsman and was authorized to use the PF stamp—a mark that continues to carry high value among collectors of Rubio guitars.

In 1975, he established his own workshop and began building guitars independently. While his early work followed Rubio’s construction style, Fischer soon began to explore the scientific relationship between structure and acoustics. This led him to develop a unique internal bracing system and innovative designs that produced a distinctive tonal balance and refined acoustic character.

Fischer's guitars earned widespread acclaim from professional guitarists seeking acoustic precision and musicality, and by the late 20th century, his instruments had become internationally respected and highly sought-after.

Description
This is Paul Fischer’s No. 194, a 640mm scale classical guitar crafted in 1991.

The back and sides are in good overall condition, showing only a few minor dents and scuffs likely caused by contact with clothing during play. The soundboard shows signs of prior use and wear, but it has been professionally refinished with lacquer, restoring it to a clean and attractive appearance.

There is some natural color aging on the head plate, consistent with the instrument’s age, which adds a sense of character and vintage appeal.

This guitar not only represents Fischer’s meticulous craftsmanship but also offers a refined tone and balanced response—hallmarks of his celebrated work.
