Born in Madrid in 1943. His father was Marcelo Barbero I, one of the most famous Spanish master craftsmen of the 20th century; his father passed away when he was 13 years old, and he initially trained in the workshop of Jose Ramirez III, but in 1957 he joined the workshop of Arcángel Fernández, an apprentice of Barbero I.
His guitars, which were shipped with the label 'Alcángel Fernández Workshop Product,' were completely handcrafted by Barbero Hijo himself, and were loved by core guitar fans for their high quality, which was no less than that of his master Alcángel.
He had been making guitars under his own original label since the late 1990s, and was showing increasing sophistication and richness, until his untimely death in January 2005. The dry, slightly hard and solid tone of his work shows the best tradition of Spanish guitars that he inherited from his mentor, Alcángel, and his father, Barbero I. His works, which are increasingly appreciated as he approached his later years, have earned him a solid reputation as a true gem of Spanish guitars.

Unlike the workshop model, the head shape follows the characteristic shape inherited from his father Barbero I through Arcangel, and the label also uses the original design. Serial No. 35 is the production serial number for the same model. back and sides are specially selected for this model.
He has done an excellent job throughout his career, but his guitars from the late 1990s to his later years are particularly impressive in terms of their depth of musical expression, with a rustic tone that embodies the tradition of a good Madrid sound with richness and power.
The entire body has been coated with shellac.
