[Profile]
Jose Lopez Bellido was born in Granada, Spain in 1943. His older brother is Manuel Bellido (1939-), a leading furniture maker in Granada. He began working as a furniture maker at the age of 10, and at the age of 14, he and his older brother Manuel apprenticed themselves to Eduardo Ferrer, who was a leader in Granada at the time, and made castanets and bandurias. For this reason, it is said that he learned guitar making from Ferrer, but according to him, the real teacher in guitar making was his older brother Manuel.
After his military service, he joined the workshop of Manuel, with whom he had collaborated, and Antonio Marin Montero (1933- ), another leading guitar maker, and worked there for several years. He became independent in 1967, but spent the first three years of his career working as a subcontractor for other workshops. However, his unique woodworking skills and highly finished guitars gradually began to attract more and more customers. His honest and enthusiastic approach to learning and making guitars is evident to all who know him. He takes notes on each guitarist's opinion, and when his guitars need repair, he is always willing to thoroughly investigate the cause and apply it to his own creations.
While he has the utmost respect for his brother Manuel's flexible and innovative approach, he himself is an advocate of a traditional style. His guitars embody the Granada style in sound, playability, and craftsmanship with refinement and poise, and they continue to be popular worldwide even after his retirement in 2012.

[Description]
We are pleased to announce the arrival of a 1986 Flamenco Model F with wooden pegs, made by Jose Lopez Bellido. This is a lovely flamenco guitar with the functionality, sound, and workmanship of the maker, and although the appearance shows signs of age, it still has great potential even today. The sound is exquisitely rigid, which creates a natural flamenco swell that is perfectly explosive and powerful. The overall balance is pleasant, and each note is slightly mellow while keeping a crisp sound image, resonating gently in the ear. The change between gentle expression and intensity is natural and makes us feel that this is the Granada sound.
The instrument has been well played, so there are many scratches, dents, and rub marks throughout, but there is no history of cracks or other repairs. Jose Lopez insisted on the use of wooden pegs for acoustic reasons, and this model also has wooden pegs (friction type), which are in good condition and functional. The entire body is finished with a thin, delicate shellac finish. 648 mm scale, easy to play, and richly expressive, this is a superb flamenco guitar.
