[Profile]
Among the many Spanish flamenco guitar brands, Conde Hermanos is considered one of the best standards. The brand traces its beginnings to Domingo Esteso (1882-1937), who worked in the Madrid workshop of Manuel Ramirez (1864-1916) and opened his own workshop in Gravina, Madrid, in 1919.
His nephew, Faustino Conde (1913-1988), who had learned directly from Esteso, joined his brothers Mariano (1916-1989) and Julio (1918-1995) on the staff of Esteso's workshop, and after Esteso's death, the 'Viuda y Sobrinos de Domingo (by Esteso's widow and her nephews).
When Esteso's wife died in 1959, the label was changed to 'Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso/Conde Hermanos,' and the name 'Conde Hermanos' began to be used as the brand name from this time on.
In the 1960s, all previous models were redesigned, and the famous half-moon cut Media Luna head shape was adopted as a symbol for high-end models. The company's fame and market share grew dramatically during this period, due in part to the growing worldwide demand.
In 1980, Mariano established a workshop in Felipe, Madrid, and started production with his sons (brothers Felipe I and Mariano II). Although they produced in cooperation with the Gravina workshop, the Felipe workshop started its own line after Faustino's death in 1988. However, Mariano I passed away the following year in 1989, and his two sons took over the Felipe workshop. From this point on, the Felipe workshop became one of the most flexible of the three Conde workshops, responding to the needs of the times and maintaining stable management.
Then, in 2010, Felipe I and Mariano II established their own workshops as Felipe Conde and Mariano Conde, respectively, as independent brands. They continue to produce good products today, each with a dense infusion of individuality.
After Faustino's death, his widow continued the Gravina workshop until the 2000s, but it is now closed. Julio ran the Conde Hermanos workshop established in Atocha in the 1950s, and now his daughter and granddaughter have taken over the management and maintain stable production under the Conde Hermanos brand.
Conde Hermanos guitars were the favorite of the famous Paco de Lucia, and have been used by the very best flamenco guitarists, and are still a must-have for flamenco guitar fans.

[Description]
Model EF5/N No. 46 made by Mariano Conde (1959-), good condition, 2016, is in stock.
The 'EF' series was the standard estudio model from the 'Conde Hermanos' brand before Mariano became independent, and Mariano inherited it as a pure entry model when he first became independent. Later, Media Luna was adopted as the head shape, and it became the middle class model of this brand. For this reason, the price is different from the previous models of the same name.
The choice of materials, careful construction and finishing, and the maker's commitment to the sound are all evident in this very high quality flamenco guitar. The volume, response, timbre, separation of sounds, and flamenco expression are all excellent, and in addition, the playability of this model is at a setting that anyone can play without difficulty, making it literally a model for flamenco beginners. Fans will also be happy to know that the distinctive hardness of the sound, which is a hallmark of this brand, has been firmly inherited.
The entire guitar has a light lacquer coating, and although there are a few play marks and dings, it is in good condition for a used flamenco guitar. There is a stamp with the initials MR on the side of the fingerboard
