We are pleased to announce the arrival of a Simon Marty model made by Hiroyasu Asakura in 2013. This model follows the Radial construction by Simon Marty. As the name 'radial' implies, the structure is based on the radial arrangement of the bars around the bridge on the sound board, resulting in increased volume and quicker response.
It was made around the time when Asakura won the first prize in a guitar-making competition, and is a well-made modern guitar that requires a lot of time and effort and is difficult to make.
In addition to the placement of the bars, the guitar has a raised fingerboard for playability from the 12th fret onward, an armrest that contributes to the stability of the right elbow, an arched backboard, and a pin bridge supported by a metal cylinder. The volume and responsiveness, considered the most important features, are excellent. The string height is slightly high yet easy to play.
There is no repair history, and the sound board has a few scratches throughout, but they are reasonable for the age of the instrument. The appearance is impressive with its reddish Central and South American rosewood.
