kaoru Ono(1954～)is one of the finest luthiers in Japan who for over 30 years now is consistently producing guitars. At first he studied wood technology at the university,　and became interested in making guitars. Around 1980, he was apprenticed to Alberto Nejime Ohno. In 2001 he participated in a course of guitar making lecture by Jose Luis Romanillos at Siguenza, Spain. And also he met Arcangel Fernandez in Japan and was advised a great deal. So deeply impressed by traditional Spanish guitar style, he explored his own image of sound.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of an original model made by Kaoru Ono in 1989, serial No. 25. This is Ono's early work. It is a very interesting model that reflects his own critical spirit while oriented toward the sound of Spanish guitars, and is a very interesting example of the process that led to his recent designs. In addition, it is a lovely piece of work that is engraved with the individuality that could only have been created during this period by a maker who had an extraordinary ear from the very beginning. The influence of master craftsmen such as Bouchet and Hauser can be felt, but a different construction and acoustic design is attempted here. The single tone with a lot of bass component has a solid core, but with a full echo, which is pleasant to the ear. The strong resonance, especially in the mid to bass range, is very attractive. The somewhat dry tone has a rustic resonance.
There is no major repair history such as cracks, etc., and it can be said to be in good condition for its age. The neck, frets, and other parts that affect playability are also in good condition.
