[Profile]
Rodolfo Camacho Viera (1887-1973). Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, South America. His father was a guitar maker from Andalusia, Spain, who originally opened a workshop in the Canary Islands before moving to Uruguay and then to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, where he settled in 1904. Guitar making was probably taught by his father, and his guitars are built in the Spanish tradition, with elegant appearance and exceptional richness of sound. His guitars were very well received both at home and abroad. Andrés Segovia had the opportunity to experience his guitars during a performance tour in South America, and was so enchanted by their tone that he owned two guitars, one made in 1928 and the other in 1934. Segovia paid him a personal tribute in a letter (the label of his guitar has a printed tribute by Segovia). And Agustín Barrios also used his instrument and paid him the greatest compliment. Although he is considered a legendary master craftsman in South America due to the fact that he was the favorite of two of the greatest masters of classical guitar, the number of his guitars is very few and the brand is currently very rare.

[Description]
We are pleased to announce the arrival of a vintage Rodolfo Camacho Viera made in 1934. The very graceful proportions and the simple design of the exterior are first of all excellent, and although it is rather small, it has a massive presence.
The tone quality is very attractive, with a deep, rich, woody sound typical of Spain of the same period, but with the soft, graceful sound quality of South America added to it. The expressive power of the sound is so great that it can even be compared to the human voice.
The sound board has one crack repair mark, and there are several crack repairs on the back, each of which has been reinforced with patches from the inside. There are some scratches and marks on the entire board, and it has probably been coated with shellac in the past. The wood is in relatively good condition considering its age.
The label has a dedication by Andrés Segovia printed as a certificate of quality, along with Rodolfo's own signature, which reads as follows,
'The instrument I acquired in Buenos Aires was a pleasant surprise for me, as it was made by Rodolfo Camacho Viera. Delivered to me by courtesy, the instrument is not only striking for its carefully crafted and attractive form, but also for its maker's intense search for sound in the instrument. These characteristics will soon place him at the top of the lineage of prominent makers in the Spanish cultural sphere, including Enrique García, Manuel Ramírez, and Santos Hernández. He has both the credentials and the unconditional love for his work.'
