[Profile]
Paulino Bernabe I (1932-2007) is a maker in Madrid, Spain. It is well known that he himself played well and learned to play the guitar from Tarrega's disciple Daniel Fortea. As a guitar maker, with the deep trust of José Ramirez III, he has long been the chief craftsman at his workshop, supporting the golden age of this giant brand. After that, he became independent in 1969 and continued to make unique guitars by his own method while inheriting the traditional method, and won the gold medal at the International Craft Expo in Munich in 1974. And he made the ten-string guitar that Narciso Yepes loves. He died in 2007, but now his son has taken over the workshop and is highly regarded as one of the leading brands in Madrid, Spain.

[Description]
We are pleased to announce the arrival of the 'Imperial' model by Bernabe I, made in 2003. Since around 2000, Bernabe has been cataloging more than 5 different models (currently 5 types: Concerto, Especial, Torres, Imperial 10-string, and Royal), each of which is ranked according to the grade of wood used, internal construction, and other factors. This model is positioned as the high-end model of this brand. These models are literally the flagship models of the brand, made of the highest quality wood naturally dried for over 40 years in the company's own workshop.

The back and sides are made of Bernabe's favorite Central and South American rosewood (the side board is double-layered with cypress on the inside). The rosette and other decorations in red and black tones, the rather large and rich body, and the shellac finish give the guitar a dignified appearance typical of this brand.
The internal construction features X bracing, which is unusual for a classical guitar.
Because Bernabe is a brand characterized by great power, it has an image of bold and gorgeous, but in fact it has a calm and deep tone. The sound is clear and neat on a single note, but when it becomes a chord, a sense of depth is created, and the contrast is very impressive and musical. The power of this piece is one of the finest of the Madrid School. This is a very good guitar by the previous generation of Bernabe.
There are some minor play marks on the sound board and striking by 1st and 2nd strings. There are no cracks or other major repairs.
