【Profile】
Jose Vigil was born in 1979 in Asturias, Spain. Raised in a musical environment with a father who was a professional musician, Vigil was surrounded by music from a very young age. Although he initially studied woodworking and furniture making, his passion for guitar making ultimately led him to establish his first workshop in Granada.

There, he frequently visited the workshops of renowned luthiers such as Antonio Marín, Rafael Moreno, and John Ray. With their invaluable advice and mentorship, Vigil refined his own aesthetic and philosophy of guitar making. He believes that a guitar should allow the performer to fully concentrate on musical expression without distraction. To that end, every element of his instruments—from material selection to workshop conditions and the finest construction details—is approached with meticulous care. The result is instruments of exceptional precision and quality.

His guitars are known for their clear, direct response and slightly fuller, rounded tone—a sound reminiscent of his mentor Antonio Marín. The balance of youth and refinement in Vigil’s work reflects a modern sensibility grounded in deep respect for tradition. Unlike some younger makers who emphasize boldness, Vigil’s craftsmanship expresses sophistication and modesty—one of the qualities that makes his work especially compelling. He is considered one of the promising luthiers shaping the next generation of classical guitar making, and is closely followed by AURA.

【Description】
We are pleased to introduce the latest model from Jose Vigil—No. 138—an original shop-exclusive design commissioned directly by AURA staff during their visit to his Granada workshop. This guitar is a beautiful blend of traditional Granada characteristics and Vigil's refined personal touch, offering a wonderfully balanced Spanish guitar experience.

The tone is open and resonant with a bright, woodsy clarity typical of the Granada school. Rather than bold grandeur, the instrument favors a more understated delicacy, creating a tone that is elegant and romantic with a rich sheen. The volume is ample, and the guitar responds easily and comfortably to the player.

This particular model features a 640mm scale and a slim, rounded neck profile, contributing to excellent playability and reduced left-hand fatigue—ideal for players seeking both comfort and performance.

The top is made from carefully selected spruce, and the back and sides are crafted from high-quality Central and South American rosewood—personally chosen by Vigil himself. The entire instrument is French polished with shellac, giving it a refined and elegant appearance that matches its sonic quality.

The internal bracing follows a symmetrical five-fan design with a slender transverse bar located just beneath the bridge. The resonance is tuned slightly below G-sharp. The tuning machines are Scheller Grand Tune series, ensuring both precision and aesthetic excellence. Comes with a hard case.
