[Profile]
Francisco (Paco) Santiago Marin was born in Granada, Spain in 1946. He began his apprenticeship at the age of 12 with his father, Francisco Santiago Oliva, a furniture maker, and at the same time learned guitar-making techniques in the workshop of his uncle, Antonio Marin, from 1963. In 1973, he set up his own workshop in Granada, where he currently works with his son Luis Santiago Hernandez (1969-). Although he is strongly influenced by Antonio Marin in both appearance and acoustics, he most closely follows the guitars of Antonio de Torres and the Granada tradition. The vivid sound of the wood and the rich volume are typical of the Granada school, but the tone is calm and European, which is also a characteristic of this brand.
He has won first prize in three international guitar-making competitions in Granada (1985), Jaen (1993), and Barcelona (1995), and has a very strong international reputation. His guitars are used by many guitarists, with veterans such as Leo Brouwer, David Russell, Maria Esther Guzman, and Konrad Ragossnig, as well as Ricardo Gallen and José Antonio Escobar using his instruments.

[Description]
We are pleased to announce the arrival of Paco Santiago Marin 2005. This is a work from the most fulfilling period of the great veteran, who will celebrate 50 years since the establishment of his workshop this year, 2023. It has a unique sound and expressive power while giving a sense of its Granada School origins, and the exquisiteness of its construction is among the best in Granada, where there are many master craftsmen. This piece has a 640mm specification, and is especially recommended for those who are looking for a guitar that is easy to play for the left hand.
As a brand that represents the Granada School along with his teacher and uncle Antonio Marin, it goes without saying that this guitar has characteristic clarity and richness of volume. However, the tone is more subdued than flamboyant, which is the unique charm of Paco Marin. Unlike his usual open-hearted sound, this piece has a charming elegance and sensitive response. The separation and balance of the individual notes are also appropriate, and the refined sound is truly classical, with a full sense of the texture of the wood. It is one that has matured moderately through careful playing and natural changes over time.
The appearance is similar to Antonio Marin's, with a stylish rosette and purfling design.
The delicately applied shellac varnish gives it a graceful appearance, and it is truly a work of craftsmanship. The sound board in particular has many minor scratches and dings, and there is one string strike on the first string side under the bridge, but there are no cracks or other major repairs. Please try this one that has all the features of the brand.
