[Profile]
Aaron Green (born 1973, Massachusetts, USA) is an American luthier based in Groton, Massachusetts. He began building guitars at the age of sixteen after meeting renowned American luthier Alan Carruth, whose mentorship introduced him to both traditional craftsmanship and the scientific study of guitar acoustics.

Although initially interested in steel-string and electric guitars, Green gradually devoted himself to the classical and flamenco guitar. His direction was further shaped through his long association with guitarist Dennis Koster, whose extensive knowledge of the Spanish guitar tradition gave Green access to many outstanding historical instruments and helped deepen his understanding of their construction, sound, and playability.

Green describes himself as a traditional builder. His instruments are rooted in the Spanish classical guitar tradition while benefiting from exceptional craftsmanship and a refined understanding of acoustics. Rather than pursuing radical structural innovation, he focuses on producing guitars with balanced tonal character, excellent responsiveness, and elegant construction. Although most of his instruments follow traditional methods, he has also explored selected modern design elements where they enhance musical performance without compromising the essence of the Spanish guitar.

Today Aaron Green builds only classical and flamenco guitars, and his work is highly regarded for its refined craftsmanship, musical sensitivity, and faithful continuation of the Spanish tradition.

[Instrument Information]
This is a rare used Aaron Green Classical Model No. 77, built in 2005, and an uncommon opportunity to acquire one of his instruments in Japan.

Built according to Green's traditional philosophy, the guitar combines classic Spanish construction with outstanding craftsmanship and refined aesthetics. Its sound is lively and responsive, featuring a quick, percussive attack together with the warm resonance and spaciousness associated with fine Spanish guitars. While deeply rooted in tradition, it also offers impressive projection, tonal clarity, and a broad dynamic range.

Individual notes are beautifully defined with excellent depth and sustain, allowing melodic lines to sing naturally while maintaining rich harmonic complexity. The guitar responds immediately to changes in touch, making it equally suitable for delicate expression and powerful performance.

The appearance is equally attractive. The warm amber shellac finish complements the fine spruce top and beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides. A finely detailed yet understated rosette and tasteful purfling complete its elegant, timeless design.

Internally, the guitar features a traditional seven-fan bracing system with harmonic bars and closing bars in a conventional Spanish layout. The resonance is set around F♯–G, contributing to its balanced tonal response.

The instrument remains in excellent condition. There are no cracks, structural repairs, or modifications. Minor playing marks are present on the soundboard and light surface wear can be seen on the back and sides, consistent with careful use. The neck is stable with comfortable playability, and the frets remain in very good condition. It features a slim, rounded D-shaped neck profile, string action of 2.9 mm / 3.5 mm (1st/6th strings at the 12th fret), Sloane tuning machines with leaf-engraved plates, and a total weight of 1.54 kg.
