[Maker Information]
Born in Granada, Spain in 1960. At the age of 14, he entered the workshop of his uncle, Antonio Marín Montero, as an apprentice, and after ten years, in 1984, began building guitars under his own label. Since then, he has continued his work in the same workshop alongside Antonio, a workshop that has earned international acclaim as one of the foremost sources of exceptional Spanish guitars.

He is widely regarded as one of the makers who most perfectly embodies what many people envision when they speak of the “Granada sound.” His guitars combine grandeur with delicacy, offering a tone that is both brilliantly clear and deeply resonant. In addition to their tonal excellence, his instruments are distinguished by outstanding craftsmanship, exquisitely refined design, and beautiful finishing. In terms of overall quality, they stand among the finest guitars produced in Spain today, and continue to inspire leading performers across a wide range of musical genres.

[Instrument Information]
Original model No. 763, built in 2013.

This guitar features a bright tonal character, with a light playing feel and impressive immediacy of response. It offers excellent sustain and a well-balanced sound across the entire register. The sharp tonal definition characteristic of José Marín is beautifully combined with the powerful, projecting resonance typical of the Granada workshop tradition.

Finished entirely in shellac, and fitted with Rubner tuning machines. The neck shows a very slight forward relief within standard specifications, providing good playability, and there is virtually no fret wear. String height is set at 2.8 mm on the 1st string and 3.6 mm on the 6th string, with approximately 1.5 mm of saddle remaining, allowing for future adjustment. String tension feels relatively soft, making the instrument comfortable and easy to play.

Approximately ten years have passed since its construction, and minor signs of use can be found throughout. These include fine playing marks on the back of the neck, several light pick scratches near the soundhole, and a shallow dent near the center of the lower bout on the top. All are consistent with normal use and do not detract significantly from the instrument’s appearance or performance. There is no history of cracks or repairs, and the guitar remains in very good overall condition. A Hiscox hard case (black) is included.
