Luthier Information

Wataru Tsuji is one of Japan’s most respected classical guitar luthiers and a master craftsman who played a central role in the development of ASTURIAS Guitars for many years. He began his career in guitar making in 1977 and was involved from the era of Meiko Guitar Workshop, the predecessor of Asturias. He later served for many years as Head of Classical Guitar Production at Asturias.

Guitars designed and supervised by Mr. Tsuji are highly regarded for their clear, transparent tone, excellent balance, and outstanding playability. His designs have been cataloged as the “TSUJI Series”, and his design philosophy continues to be carried on within the Asturias brand today.

Although Mr. Tsuji has since retired from Asturias, the models he designed and the techniques he supervised are still preserved and produced by the workshop.

Instrument Information

This is an Asturias “Custom S” model, built in 2022, with a 650 mm scale length.
The Custom S is positioned as one of the upper-tier regular production models in the Asturias lineup and is highly regarded for its build quality and tonal refinement.

The guitar is very responsive and easy to play, offering a rich and substantial sound characteristic of solid-wood construction. It delivers excellent volume, quick response, and ample sustain, while maintaining a well-balanced tone that allows chords to ring clearly without excessive resonance. The craftsmanship reflects the high technical standards of the Asturias workshop, resulting in a stable and refined instrument that responds sensitively to the player’s touch.

Although approximately three years have passed since its construction, the guitar remains in near-mint, like-new condition with very minimal signs of use.
There is a small finish crack near the neck, likely caused during the installation of the tuning machines; however, this does not affect playability in any way. There is no repair history, and the overall condition is excellent. The saddle still has sufficient height remaining, allowing for future string height adjustments if desired.

The guitar comes with a Super Light Case from the previous series, which is also in very good condition.
