[Maker Information]
Born in 1947 in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from university, he traveled to Spain—visiting Granada and several other guitar workshops—to deepen his understanding of the craft. Upon returning to Japan, he studied guitar making under Yukinobu Chai and violin making under Tetsuo Matsuda.

In 1984, he established his own workshop in Sanada Town, Nagano Prefecture. In addition to guitars, he has produced a wide range of stringed instruments including violins, earning high acclaim in each field. He is also widely known for his dedication to mentoring the next generation of luthiers, having trained promising young makers such as Jun Nakano, Masahiro Tanabe, and Taro Maruyama.

[Instrument Information]
This is an 11-string guitar made in 1992. An 11-string guitar extends the lower register beyond the standard six strings, allowing for a richer and more expansive bass response.

Its sound is characterized by a deep, weighty presence combined with clear tonal definition. Rich in overtones and offering a spacious resonance, it delivers a pleasing and relaxed tonal character. While the overall volume is moderate, the response is quick and the sustain is excellent, resulting in a well-balanced voice throughout. The extended range of the 11 strings enables a particularly rich and expressive sonic palette. It is forgiving to the touch and offers comfortable, highly playable action.

The guitar features a polyurethane finish and is fitted with Gotoh tuning machines. The neck is slim and in good condition, with a slight forward relief. The frets are also in good condition. String height is set at 3.2 mm on the 1st string and 4.1 mm on the 6th string, providing a soft and comfortable playing feel.

Now 32 years since its construction, the instrument remains in overall good condition. There is a shallow dent near the bridge on the treble side of the top, as well as a dent on the treble-side edge of the lower bout. The finish remains in good condition, with no history of crack repairs.

A hard case is included.
