A Japanese guitarist living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he has been highly acclaimed by local guitarists. He originally trained in Japan as an apprentice at a well-known workshop before coming to Brazil. In the 1970s, he was in charge of guitar production at Giannini, one of the leading manufacturers in Brazil, but later became independent. He is still one of the top guitar makers in Brazil.

The guitars are made of local wood carefully selected by the maker himself, and are basically made by orthodox Spanish construction method, but with solid and sturdy structure and construction.
The sound board is made of cedar wood, but the treble notes have a rustic taste, and the bass notes have a heavy, non-sweet tone that is typical of South American guitars. As a whole, this guitar has a unique character.
This brand has always attracted attention from South American music lovers in Japan.

Made in 1991 and purchased directly in Sao Paulo by the previous owner. There are some scratches mainly on the sound board, but it is in good condition with original finish. The neck tends to be slightly forward warped, but the string height has been adjusted for easy playability. The quality of sound is typical of Sugiyama guitars, which is well suited for bossa nova.
