Born in Nagoya, Japan in 1939, Kodama Kanoh started learning guitar making at the workshop of his father, Mokumei Kanoh, in 1958 at the age of 19. He became independent in 1966 and started making his own brand of guitars. Since then, he has been actively producing high quality instruments and is one of the oldest and most experienced guitar makers in Japan. In addition to guitars, he also makes mandolins and lutes, for which he is highly regarded. His classical guitars are designed to sound Spanish, but at the same time are modest and stoic in tone, rich in sound and elegant. He is a pioneer in the field of high quality short scale guitars, and his lineup is particularly extensive with models in the 610-640mm range.

Kodama Kanoh Production No. 50, 630mm short scale, new work made in 2021.　Kanoh has developed a lineup that flexibly responds to user needs while keeping the quality of its handcrafted products, especially in the quality and quantity of short-scale models, which are outstanding in Japan.
The 630mm string length does not show any disadvantages of the short string length, and has high quality in terms of sound, volume, and expressiveness. The string height is set at the time of shipment from the workshop, but there is still width for adjustment on the saddle, so it is possible to set it still lower. The fingerboard has 20 frets.
This piece is new for 2021, but the paint finish does not meet the brand's standards in some areas (the quality itself is not affected at all), so it has been specially shipped as an official outlet item from the workshop.
