[Profile]
Born in Gunma, Japan, in 1974, he began making classical guitars at the age of 20. He learned at Sakae Ishii's workshop, where he built about 140 guitars. In 2001, he attended a workshop with José Luis Romanillos in Sigüenza, Spain, which provided him with a decisive experience and convinced him that the traditional Spanish method was the direction he should take.
After returning to Japan, he set up a workshop in Tochigi Prefecture, and in October 2002, he launched the Romanillos model. His guitars are the fruit of his exploratory spirit and outstanding in their design and sonic perfection. He currently produces five to six guitars per year.
In 2018, a popular NHK program aired a video of him building in his workshop, and in 2020, his interview and instruments were featured in Orfeo Magazine No. 15, published by French publisher Camino Verde.

[Description]
Masahiro Tanabe's Hauser model 2007 No.194 'la cigarra' is now in stock. It is a wonderful guitar with a clear and comfortable rigidity.
The sound is clear with a pleasant stiffness, and the body is well resonant, showing the Spanish characteristics of the Hauser I well. The sound image is mellowed by playing, and the tone has a sense of warmth. However, the stoic expression unique to Hauser is firmly in place.
The overall finish is a delicate shellac. The moderately candy-colored appearance gives it a deep vintage guitar-like character, and the simple but meticulous attention to detail and sophisticated rosette provide exquisite accents that give it a calm and elegant appearance.
There is no major repair history, and the instrument is in good condition except for a few play marks around the soundhole and under the bridge. The string length is 640mm, and the left hand feels easy to play.
'la cigarra' means cicada. It is said that Tanabe was given the inspiration for naming it just around the time of its completion in early summer, and the name of the model also reflects the humor of the maker, who wanted it to sound (chirp) well.
