[Profile]
Born in 1958 in Oxford, England. He has been playing guitar since he was a teenager, and his interest in making guitars began when he read Irving Sloane's guitar-making manual as a gift at the age of 17. In 1979, he enrolled at the prestigious London College of Furniture, where he learned the basics of instrument making for three years. This college is the home of Gary Southwell, Michael Gee, and others. The curriculum there included hands-on study in the workshops of José Luis Romanillos and Paul Fischer, which led him to join Paul Fischer's workshop as a craftsman in 1982. Although he respected Paul Fischer as a mentor and learned a great deal from him, Paul Fischer immediately recognized the young man's mature sensitivity and skills, and after only a three-month 'training period,' he was immediately entrusted to make guitars for the Paul Fischer label as an official craftsman. After spending three fulfilling years here, he set up his own workshop.
His style is reminiscent of Paul Fischer and, even further back, David Rubio, with an imposing appearance, a rich, dense, lustrous tone, and a powerful resonance. Apart from these direct lines to his origins, he drew much inspiration from Friederich, Torres, and Hauser, and especially from Santos Hernandez. When he had the opportunity to repair a Santos guitar made in 1929, he studied the original construction in person and subsequently introduced the excellent Santos model. It is a homage to Andrés Segovia and is highly regarded as an excellent model.

[Description]
Christopher Dean's original model, No.122 made in 1990, is now in stock. The sound is thick and lustrous, with a transparent hardness and a dignified expression. He now uses a shellac finish on almost all of his guitars, but this one has a thick lacquer coating. There are some weather checks on the entire sound board, which may be caused by humidity changes, but there are no problems with use. There are some other scratches from playing, but they are small for the age of the guitar. The fingerboard has the 20th fret.
