Born in Milwaukee, USA in 1945, he began making guitars at the age of 18 and studied with Irish guitar maker John Shaw in 1966. He built Manuel Barrueco's favorite guitar in 1972, which Barrueco used in many of his subsequent concerts and recordings. He continued his lifelong pursuit of concert guitar quality, experimenting with different bar placements, body shapes, sizes, and materials, while following the traditional style based on the Torres.

After 2000, the number of bars was increased to nine, and a transition from the Torres-like arrangement to a more modern radial construction was seen. Its outstanding volume, responsiveness, perfect balance between each string and each note, and rich expressiveness, along with the many recordings of Barrueco's playing, have earned it a reputation as the highest quality of American guitar making. In addition to Barrueco, S. Isbin, Berta Rojas, and Pepe Romero have used his guitars. He sadly passed away in August 2018.

Made in 1992. It is from a period when he was exploring traditional construction in his own way. The tone and resonance are reminiscent of the maker's heyday, with a rich, agile response from pianissimo to fortissimo. This is a rare guitar that has all the dynamics and romanticism of a concert guitar. The appearance, which is made of extremely high-quality red cedar and Central and South American rosewood, has elegance and power, and is a standout in terms of total perfection.
There are some scratches based on use according to its age, but there is no history of repairs such as cracks. The top is finished with shellac, and the back and sides are lacquered.
