[Profile]
Born in Nagoya, Japan in 1939, Kodama Kanoh started learning guitar making at the workshop of his father, Mokumei Kanoh, in 1958 at the age of 19. He became independent in 1966 and started making his own brand of guitars. Since then, he has been actively producing high quality instruments and is one of the oldest and most experienced guitar makers in Japan. In addition to guitars, he also makes mandolins and lutes, for which he is highly regarded. His classical guitars are designed to sound Spanish, but at the same time are modest and stoic in tone, rich in sound and elegant. He is a pioneer in the field of high quality short scale guitars, and his lineup is particularly extensive with models in the 610-640mm range.

[Description]
This is a new 630mm scale classical guitar No. 40 by Kodama Kanoh, the latest work by the over 80-year-old maker, and it is of consistent quality in appearance, sound, and playability. This is the lowest cost model of the brand, but it has high potential to be enjoyed by beginners and advanced players alike.
The 630mm short scale has a full and powerful overall sound, and the single notes are firm and tight. The acoustics are superb, with none of the usual disadvantages of a short scale, and there is no compromise in sacrificing acoustics in favor of playability, while still providing the 'advantage' of slightly soft string tension. This is a good thing for players who have difficulty playing with their left hand. The brand is known for its rather stoic tone, but this model is characterized by a bright, Spanish-like sound.
